The Atherton Golf Club is a fully irrigated grass green, nestled at the foot of the hills of a National Park, located on the western edge of the Atherton township. Atherton is a parkland course with fairways that thread through tall gum trees. Located 700 metres above sea level, the altitude also makes the course much cooler to play at any time of the year than the courses on the tropical coast at sea level. The best months to visit the scenic Atherton Tablelands are April to September.
The course is open every day all year round. The course is in the wet tropical rainforest. Golfers, as they thread their way around the many trees and cunningly located bunkers, are accompanied by numerous types of animal and birdlife, particularly curlews, if you can locate their well camouflaged shapes. Electric carts available.
